LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. (July 31, 2014) – On September 11, 2014, Race4 Domestic Violence Prevention (Race4DVP) will hold a private VIP Meet and Greet with NASCAR drivers in Chicago to increase awareness about this formidable social issue. The VIP event will support the organization’s mission to be a resource for community outreach, awareness and education. This is the first of two such events for 2014, with the other scheduled for Talladega. Participating drivers include David Ragan, Jennifer Jo Cobb, Ben Kennedy and Eric McClure. Additional drivers will be announced as they are able to commit. Online registration is available at Race4DVPrevention.org/events. Each event is limited to 120 participants to allow for one-on-one time with the drivers and plenty of time for pictures and autographs. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available. “Research shows that domestic violence is still an issue people are uncomfortable with,” said co-founder Tracey Passantino. “Our primary mission is to bring awareness to solutions by educating people about issues related to domestic violence and to provide them with information about local and national support systems. This event will support those efforts.” A portion of the proceeds from the VIP Meet and Greet will be granted to a local domestic violence agency that has a community outreach program meeting the awareness and education criteria set forth by Race4DVP. “Through grass roots efforts we will be able provide educational and resource materials that create higher awareness of domestic violence issues,” stated Passantino. “We are focused on a campaign to challenge race fans to become better informed and also to provide support information. First we need to create awareness about our brand, which we feel we can do strategically through VIP Meet and Greet events and 5K Run/Walk events that are held during race weekends around the country.” Many domestic violence agencies have education coordinators and conduct outreach programs, there is new research that was initiated by the Avon Foundation showing domestic violence is still on the perimeter of people’s awareness. It has long been a topic discussed behind closed doors. New movements are changing that discussion and Race4DVP intends to be part of the solution. About Race4 Domestic Violence Prevention Race4DVP was formed in 2012 by two sisters who are passionate about eradicating domestic violence because of incidents in their own family.
