LENTEN SCHEDULE OF EVENTS AND DEVOTIONS 2014 HOLY SPIRIT CATHOLIC CHURCH 1. General Parish Penance: To pray each day for peace in all families 2. Ash Wednesday (March 5, 2014): Ashes will be distributed at the 12:05pm and 6:00pm liturgies. Ash Wednesday is a day of fast and abstinence. 3. Daily Liturgy: Daily Eucharist will be celebrated at 8:00am on MONDAY, TUESDAY AND THURSDAY. On WEDNESDAY, at 12:05pm and 6:00pm. On FRIDAY, at 12:05pm 4. Stations of the Cross: The Stations of the Cross will be prayed each Friday at 6:00pm. 5. RCIA: The Rite of Election for the Candidates and Catechumens will be celebrated at St. Stephen Cathedral, Owensboro on Sunday, March 9, at 2:00pm. 6. Scrutinies: The Scrutinies will be celebrated at the 9:00am Sunday Liturgies on March 17, 30 & April 6 (3rd, 4th, and 5th Sundays of Lent). Please keep our candidates and catechumens in your prayers. 7. Confessions: The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be celeb rated in a communal penance service on Sunday, April 13 at 6:00pm. Confessions will be heard every WEDNESDAY from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and Saturday from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Note: Lent ends with the celebration of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday. As we enter symbolically into the absence of Christ from our Church, the Blessed Sacrament will be reserved in a place apart from the Sanctuary in the Church. This LSO MEANS THAT NON SACRAMENTS, INCLUDING THE Sacrament of Reconciliation, will be celebrated until the Vigil on Holy Saturday night. Please make every effort to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation before Holy Thursday (April 17). 8. Church Cleaning: Saturday, April 12, 8:30 am till completion. 9. Fish Fry: 4:30pm to 7:30pm, March 7, 14, 21 & 28 & April 5, & 11, 2014. 10. Palm Sunday: Regular Sunday Schedule. You may return your old palm branches to the Church. 11. Chrism Mass: The Chrism Mass will be celebrated, Tuesday, April 15 at 6:30pm at the Sports Centre in Owensboro, Ky. 12. Server Practice: Wed, April 16, 6:30pm. 13. Holy Thursday: April 17. Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00PM 14. Good Friday: April 19. Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord at 7:00PM 15. Holy Saturday: April 20. The Holy Vigil at 8:00PM 16. Easter Sunday: April 21. Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord at 9:00am and 11:30AM.
