LEP No.3 to certain lands in the Allnutt, Centre and Whittaker Streets Quirindi has been formally gazetted - On behalf of Liverpool Plains Shire Council (LPSC), the Chair Environmental Services Committee, Councillor Col Stewart, has congratulated the Environmental Services Department team for successfully steering Local Environment Plan (LEP) Amendment No.3 through a complex process to gain a successful outcome. LEP No.3 was formally gazetted on October 10. “LEP No.3 pertained to certain lands in the Allnutt, Centre and Whittaker Street (Quirindi) precincts and involved rezoning various lots within the township of Quirindi from R1 General Residential to IN2 Light Industrial or B4 Mixed Use to reflect existing land uses, amending the IN2 Light Industrial zone land use table to permit certain additional land uses and amending the Lot Size Map for the land in the Centre Street precinct being rezoned to IN2 Light Industrial to 1000m2 to ensure consistency in lot sizes with neighbouring light industrial land,” Councillor Stewart said. “Updated maps and a copy of the amended LEP are available from the NSW legislation website, legislation.nsw.gov.au. Stakeholders have been notified in writing of this successful outcome and final project milestone,” he said. “LPSC only has a small Planning section who are kept busy under normal circumstances. LEP No.3 was a huge project that involved hundreds of hours of human resources, in personal contact with those involved, reviewing the literature, developing a preliminary constraints analysis, a land analysis framework, an issues matrix, an options report, drafting the planning proposal, obtaining the LEP Gateway Determination, public consultation, exhibitions and referrals, adoption by Council, referrals to Parliamentary Counsel Office, request for gazettal of LEP, actual gazettal and post gazettal notifications and policy updates. The Planning team achieved all objectives with no concerns raised by the relevant government departments, a truly magnificent outcome,” Councillor Stewart concluded. LPSC Planning Manager, Donna Ausling, has also conveyed her thanks and appreciation to the stakeholders for their co-operation and patience through the long process to reaching this successful outcome.
