LESSONS FROM THE GAZA WAR Today more than 150 trucks carrying cement, steel, sand and gravel entered Gaza via Israel for the beginning of the reconstruction of Gaza. All of the building materials will be monitored by more than 150 UN personnel and more than 1500 Palestinian Authority police will be stationed in and around border crossings inside of Gaza. Israel is working with the Palestinian National Consensus Government and the international community is providing billions of dollars in resources. All of this, in addition to the new Israeli policy of doing away with the bad old policy of isolation of Gaza, are all outcomes of the war which Israel has described as a great victory. I wonder what happens when Israel loses? All of this could have been done before the war and there would not have been a war at all. Explain that to the families 2000 dead Palestinians in Gaza and to the 73 families of dead Israelis, to the millions of people who lived under rocket fire in Israel and Gaza and to all of those thousands who suffered so much this summer. This is truly the failure of leadership in both camps.
