LET THE SUN SHINE -- Normally, wed be very excited about a unique hat trick were about to achieve. Over the last three weekends, weve presented Mo Mandel with 40 Chelsea Lately appearances to his credit, Andrew Norelli with Letterman under his belt and now Kevin Shea who recently was on Arsenio. So why arent we partying? Well, unfortunately, all three of those important TV shows just mentioned which provide credits and exposure for the types of rising comedians we favor will soon be off the air. It begs the question, how will talented performers bring attention to themselves without these shows? So, with all due modesty, wed like to suggest that fans who want to get behind comedians who deserve it give us the benefit of the doubt that those who appear here warrant their patronage. Yes, we hesitate to brag but stars like Louis CK, Ellen DeGeneres and Jerry Seinfeld are but a few of the comedy immortals who have graced our stage before making it big. In fact, Jerry Seinfeld credits the Comedy Underground with providing key support at a pivotal point in his development. He never fails to encourage his audiences to support us when hes in town. Hopefully that suggests we know something about what it takes to make it? Were coming up on our 33rd anniversary this month. Thats about 200 in nightclub years. Entertainment venues just dont last this long unless theyre doing something right.
