LETTER TO CEO MAY: CEO, May: Yesterday we lost our friend, animal champion, tireless worker, devoted wife, incredible mother, amazing potter and gentle spirit, Kay Fullmer. Kay was one of the founding members of Advocates for DeKalb Animals. Those of us who knew her, know how much she gave to this struggle, despite her own very serious health challenges, of which she never, once complained. Our numbers are diminished by this loss, but Kay would insist that it not dim our spirits. We wanted Kay to be with us the day the new shelter is completed and although she may not be physically present, we must, in her honor hasten the day when the doors open. Unfortunately, the County failed Kay and thousands of constituents that have tirelessly and repeatedly brought the horrors of DAS to light. The savage, unnecessary and unsalvageable mauling of an innocent and very adoptable dog, Gypsy, is yet another example of broken promises and failed policies of our officials. HOW MANY MORE??? WHERE IS THE 500K???? WHERE ARE THE BENCHMARKS, TIMETABLES AND MEASURES TO GET THE NEW FACILITY BUILT???? WHY IS THE CURRENT FACILITY NOT BEING MAINTAINED BY THE COUNTY???? The very foundation of good governance rests on responsibility and accountability and we find both woefully lacking in our County Administration. WHO WILL STAND UP AND SAY ENOUGH???? For too long DeKalb County has been mismanaged, lacked integrity and communication with constituents. Literally, several hundred voters have shown up repeatedly at BOC and other town hall meetings to ask legitimate questions only to be told that well get those answers, well get back to you, well look into it, thats pending ad infinitum! It takes courage and moral leadership to end what is a disgusting, embarrassing, cruel and inhumane chapter in this Countys leadership. The travesty that continues at DAS is a moral failing. We need a leader in this County who is willing to do the right thing, however, late it is in coming! WILL YOU BE THE CHANGE AGENT???
