LETTING AGENT REGULATION UPDATE REGULATION NOT A PRIORITY - TopicsExpress

LETTING AGENT REGULATION UPDATE REGULATION NOT A PRIORITY Housing Minister Mark Prisk has emphasized that the formal regulation of letting agents is not a priority at the moment. This deals a further blow to the Committee of Advertising Practice’s recent advice on standards for agents and essentially confirms how ineffective this advice will be (Zoopla have already confirmed they will not be enforcing it). The government has also distanced itself from proposals to incorporate letting agents into the 1979 Estate Agents Act, which would give the Office of Fair Trading more powers in protecting clients. The only small light at the end of the tunnel was Mr. Prisk’s suggestion that a law coming in next year requiring letting agents to join a recognized ombudsman scheme should also include mandatory client money protection insurance. Critics have suggested, however, that while this will provide a system of redress, it will do nothing to tackle the roots of the problem. what to follow our news ? why not like our facebookpage facebook/PitmanPropertyManagement
