LETTING OUR GLORY STILL SHINE IN THIS DARKENING HOUR. In my contemplation of what is happening about us in the rapid decline of society I think it may be that we have fallen short of something very vital. I think the church had what I am speaking of several decades ago emerging with a passionate aggressiveness out of the restoration period. As I remember that intense feeling of the spirit of God moving forward in the church, that that sense of aggressive energy of the enormous war existing between our Master and the prince of darkness on the world scene seems to have cooled considerably. There is something tremendously at stake here as we watch the strengthening of the spiritual powers that are hell bent to destroy Christianity, the church of Christ and the Bible, the standard for what the world has recognized for decency, honor, righteousness and holiness. Oh yes, I know the kingdom can never be destroyed but congregations can and many suffer the Laodicean lethargy, then eventual succumb to the Sardis sickness. If the death of Christ is written upon our hearts and the glory of his resurrection we ought to be up in arms with the best we can do with small or large talent against those whose purpose is to rip the Christian’s glory from our holy garments of righteousness. I read much in this tome and in that one about Christianity, Jesus, and God but find little espousing much animated zeal to do battle with those who are conspiring to remove the holy kingdom of God from this earth. When one comes to grips with the apostle Paul in his physical weakness doing battle with the beasts at Ephesus you might grasp what I am speaking about. God help us put on the whole armor of God and then whet our sword by attending Bible classes, worship and engage in private Bible study. It is critical at this hour of social rottenness that we do what Peter says that we might survive: “but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: being ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear: having a good conscience; that, wherein ye are spoken against, they may be put to shame who revile your good manner to life in Christ. This way we still can let our glory in Him shine in this darkening storm. I Peter. 3:15. AMEN
