LET’S BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT WE SAY We need to improve upon - TopicsExpress

LET’S BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT WE SAY We need to improve upon our ability to talk to distressed people of this world especially inside the house of the lord, otherwise we cause havoc. In Isa 1:17 we are informed to:- “Learn to do well; Learn to seek righteous judgment; Learn to relieve the oppressed; Learn to judge the fatherless; Learn to plead for the widow etc”. In my attempt to have full grasp of these, the Holy Spirit made me proceed to another scripture in Rom4:19 :- “Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another ”. This edification finds expression through the above-listed and more. The composition of Churches is usually assorted, as we can have an unbeliever who is in the church for the 1st time whose life has all along been under the influence of a god, and needs a change to the living God in Jesus. Another was tracking somebody to steal a mobile phone from unsuspecting congregant. Another wanted to marry a beauty queen he spotted on Television in a particular church. Others are in Church because they want to satisfy their pang for food - the Greek widows in Acts6:1-4 or the ‘ macho’ men who did not work but saw in Jesus a huge warehouse filled with assorted provisions & for sustainance sake, decided to capture Him, enthrone as a king to supply their daily needs – John6:11-27. I am reliably informed of a Preacher who in the absence of the Senior Pastor preached to a huge crowd and to project his Boss & his person, made what he thought was a harmless statement to the effect that he perceived ‘the God of his Senior Pastor is a shade ahead of that of all others in the service’ . It did not go down well with the discerning church members, not even a minnow in the things of God, but when the Moderator for the day commented on that statement of the preacher after his preaching, to set the records straight( because hearts were grieved and pondering about it), the preacher quickly took the microphone to dress up his statement as it were, to stand firm on his ground. The hearts of the members were troubled, and to confirm the concerns of the church members, this same Pastor took the microphone 2weeks later to announce that the General Overseer was arriving during the ensuing Sunday and will be Preaching. The response of the church was lukewarm, without the usual excitement. Let’s be careful with what we say else we will saddle the already burdened believers in our churches with issues they cannot carry. If Jesus’ truth as expounded in John 6 made Him lose followers, how much more if we carelessly deliver messages which have no spiritual basis or substance. We in the Christian fraternity are all serving one and only God with no distinction(Eph4:3-6). Somebody’s relationship level with God may not equal another, ( not to consider the materials acquired or levels of education) but the same Lord & God, if we are members of the Body of Christ. I think proportionately He gives more attention to the weak than the strong is n’t it ?. Stay Blessed.
