LET’S NOT MISS OUT ON THE GIST OF THE SCHOOL LUNCH ARGUMENT: Whether the lunch is provided or not; whether it is wasted or not, those are NOT the argument. The argument is like you feed your children at home: you want them to eat healthy; not just loaded with starch, sugar or salt. I.e. honey buns, chips, etc. If we are serious about turning this community around via better decision makers, then the nutritional value/freshness/taste of our foods must be the issue. We cannot have that if the meals are either uneaten or uneatable! The equation can only be balanced when the meal is both nutritional & tasty. Thus, students will be satisfied & thrive. We all know from our home experiences how our own children react when the food taste bad, especially if we cannot cook well. That reaction happened before Chartwells, and it is happening now. So we are at square one. Cooks need to be trained & processed foods need not to be. Regardless of it all, bad cooking is also a no no. None of us return to any cook shop where the foods taste bad. Processed, precooked, prepackaged food is a no no. There are over 1 million studies out there to prove that. Choose one. We must remember that new federal guidelines must be followed for our school food program to receive the federal bucks. No longer can cooks get fresh meat s, poultry & fish; add butter, oil, high seasoning powder, etc. to the pots. Idk about fresh seasonings like fresh peppers, celery, thyme, chibel, chives, etc. Chartwells said ‘No; those things cost too much. ‘ We parents & guardians must also be ultra-modest in the super-early , no warning introduction to, and the amount of fast foods we allow our children to gravitate to. School is about to close. Why not gather your family together and do a study on them this summer????? You will be amazed at what you find out!!!! Plant seeds with your young. Children still love mud! And they love to see things grow! ioho We think their superiority-by-design rampage on our people starts from the very food they gave us to eat. Look how foolish that sounds: THE VERY FOOD THEY GAVE US TO EAT. We should be controlling even that basic thing--- and we are not. So how can we think any better? They are not satisfied with the speed of the gun play, so they move to the very diet of our young & old; and all in-between.
