LEVEL 2 FOOD SAFETY - observation ....... and just by way of contradiction to what I was told this week by Rosemary Nelson at the MCA about online Level 2 Food Safety qualifications, this is what Rosemary said: Online food hygiene courses are not accepted as there is no guarantee that the “test” took place under exam conditions or that the candidate did not repeat the “test” until such time as the pass mark was achieved as several of the online courses providers allow for re-sits or multiple attempts at no extra cost. - this is what the PYA website SAYS: Please note that following a recent revision of the Virtual College Food Safety online courses, the MCA has now confirmed that this certification will be accepted. However, it’s worth noting that this course is an accredited training programme only; should you require a full qualification you will be required to undertake an additional assessment by visiting an accredited test centre. It is recommended that you complete a formal Food Safety or Food Hygiene module by a recognized awarding body. This rather backs up my earlier post regarding online training - or does it? pya.org/article/Update-on-Ships-Cook-Certificate
