Me, its like organizing D-Day. Forces have to be assembled, magazines bought, the past dredged for some suitably unsavoury episode, the dog-eared thought of which can still produce a faint flicker of desire! Have a wank, itd be easier to raise the Titanic. Interesting bio pic with an electrifying young Gary Oldman as Joe Orton and Alfred Molina as his lover. While one grows the other ones recesses and the two of them start drifting apart, with some serious consequences. The script is wonderful. Full of brilliant one liners. Gary Oldman never plays it safe. In fact he goes so far and is so authentic that the only thing I knew I could count on was that this was going to be raw, nontraditional and shocking. No more happy homo coming to terms with who he is. Or a romantic trip in the country. This film is really not even about being gay. It is a character study of two people who were perfect for each other, but also each others Achilles heel.
