LHMS Welcome Back! Logan-Hocking Middle Written by: LHMS Administrators Greetings Logan-Hocking Middle School Families: It is with great pleasure that we welcome you and your children to LHMS for the 2013-2014 school year. We hope that your summer has been filled with fun, family, and friends. How quickly summer concludes and our thoughts turn to eagerly preparing for the start of another school year. This is always an exciting time of the year! We are eager to meet and welcome new families and students, while also catching up with our returning families and students. Our first event of the new school year is the 5th Grade Orientation on Thursday, August 15th from 6:00-7:30pm. This event is co-sponsored by the Hocking County Health Department as an introduction for the class of 2021 to our school and allows our incoming 5th grade families to become familiar with the school environment, expectations, and fellow classmates. This event will begin promptly at 6:00pm in the LHMS Theater and will include some light refreshments and activities. Our second event is our school Open House on Monday, August 19th. Grades 6 and 8 will be held from 4:00-6:00pm and grades 5 and 7 will follow from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The purpose of Open House is to allow children accompanied by parents to find their classroom, meet their teacher, and drop off any supplies to classrooms and/or lockers. We hope that this short visit will help children feel more comfortable on their first day of school. Student schedules are available to view/print on the Logan-Hocking Infinite Campus Portal via LHSD Website. The first day of classes will begin on Wednesday, August 21st and will be a full day beginning at 7:25 a.m. until 2:20 p.m. Students arriving early should report to Café/Gym areas for supervised breakfast programs. The school district’s Project Safe After The Middle program is available again this year at LHMS. For hours, prices, and programming details, please contact Wendy Cook at 385-8517, extension 2713.
