LIBERIA: THE CRYPTIC DIMENSIONS OF TRIBAL POLITICS & THE PENNUE’S WRECKAGE Since the sole intend of this article is primarily gears toward discussing the defeat of Zoe Pennue in post-election era, I must as well mention the pending charges against Liberian lawmaker (Zoe Pennue) by the United States Department of Homeland Security & fugitive taskforce for “organize crime” on the eastern shore of the United States & the political wreckage he created at home. I chose the word “cryptic” in the banner headline because what an individual doesn’t understand, it seems to fall in the classification of gnosis (it becomes mystique or spiritual in nature). It is this identification of mysterious element within the tribal political doctrine, particularly western Africa that those in power & those marauding for power, struggle to comprehend immensely. These classification of individuals flout basic ethical practices; interestingly, I can now state without doubt, that there is no truncation or extra-brawn for good officeholder other than his/her sense of service. I mean, to comport oneself with the maximum dignity & immaculate public record, because public office is transitory status. Obviously, this is the basic desideratum Zoe Pennue doesn’t seek to comprehend. It is advisable to meticulously distinguish between political doctrine & natural leadership skills. Interestingly, with only a 4th grade education, the Liberian civil war elevated Zoe Pennue to one of Grand Gedeh top positions, but sadly, his crime participation outclassed, his political & social status with stoical acceptance. We’ve mentioned from the dawn of the senatorial race, that compromising political profession; and noncompliance with ethical standard is the blueprint for the development of corrupt society or flotsam. It is unprecedented in “public election” for proxy forces and/or shadow operatives to solicit “slush funds” (a reserve fund used for illicit purposes, especially political bribery, vote for cash, or extra illicit ballots). The remaining question now isn’t just, where are the proxy forces & shadow operatives for Zoe Pennue; but who will pay for the political deficits? Unfortunately, all the proxy forces have gone underground; and now looking for new breeding ground, where cash will surface in profusion. They careless about their own political future & where the “slush funds” come from; but in reality such funds come from individuals of weak political background & low mental capability. It is without doubt, that such transaction between the politicians & the proxy forces is unorthodox, exploitation to the values of inchoate democracy, and undermine a fragile peace for a nation coming out of transition in western Africa. GRAND GEDEH SENATORIAL RACE; RECONSTRUCTING ZOE PENNUE FAILURE Election campaigners are testimony to this factual statement, I mean, in time of campaign & public election, threadbare arguments & gossips don’t win election. Barefaced lies, gossips, and arguments are common elements of distraction; this is the core reasons during campaign season, we dismiss insults because of where they come from, & we laugh at the insulting charges of inconsistency because of who made them. However, let face it, and point to the Pennue’s failure. Firstly, ineptitude & malversation were without doubt in part, the contributing factors of Zoe Pennue failure in Grand Gedeh County Senatorial Election. Zoe Pennue has imprisoned the children & fathers of Grand Gedeans, and yet, he has the audacity to ask his victims for more power. Additionally, Zoe Pennue association with an infamous “Liberian war criminal-Ellen Johnson Sirleaf” whose planning & execution killed both his uncles (Samuel Doe & Harrison Pennue) speaks deception. President Sirleaf & Senator Prince Johnson are fully aware of Pennue & Nyenabo deceptions, and dealing with both men from a political ringside seat. Nevertheless, Just as campaign promises are blind hope; President Sirleaf promise to Zoe Pennue is also a blind hope; Christopher Baily a classic example of proxy operative who has been kicked under the bus. Elsewhere, little did the “(LURD-Secretary of War-Isaac Nyenabo)” knows that Sirleaf has set him up for the worst; “WAR CRIMINALS” don’t have seat at the “European Union.” It’s just the matter of time, Isaac Nyenabo & Zoe Pennue will understand that in politics, there are no permanent friends only permanent interests. Secondly, in a full-frontal account, Zoe Pennue campaign comments seen as implicit criticism drew the attention of every Grand Gedeans. Pennue added with interest in a guttural & diacritical krahn accent, “Prince Johnson took off Samuel Doe ears & that the former president doesn’t have a grave?” oops! such comments cannot be a faux pas, but an inane expression from Samuel Doe own extended relative (Zoe Pennue.) One analyst said, Zoe Pennue would most likely be reacting to what he heard from his father (Charlie Pennue). “An earless President without a tombstone;” I wonder if Harrison Pennue had a decorated tombstone at the “Freeport of Liberia.” In addition to the forgone revelation, what Zoe Pennue thought was a pernicious insult intended for Samuel Doe Junior, was in fact a political fissure for “the Dennis’ campaign,” & a victorious “marching order” for Senator-Elect Marshall Dennis. This in part turned away Pennue’s voters in fulmination to a choice that was now fully their own. I don’t speak for the Samuel Doe’s family & the “Gborhu Chiefdom,” but Pennue now understand the geo-political implications for such silly statement & saw the expostulation in the Grand Gedeh senatorial election, if not a political brunt. In sum, the truculent defiance of Zoe Pennue in Liberia is coming to a full closure. Zoe Pennue loss comes as no surprise to those on the “campaign trail,” because of his dealing within the sub-region. He went from a lawmaker to a common daily criminal; the only Liberian lawmaker in the history of Liberia, interestingly a ranking member of the Foreign Service Committee whose cannot enter the United States (our traditional bilateral partner) for “Organize Crime.” Speaking amongst other things, Zoe Pennue association & link to individuals believed to be Al Qaeda operatives and ranking leaders of Boko Haram “sleeper cell” in neighboring Ivory Coast and Liberia has most likely shifted the international radar on both nations. Western Africa today faces a new set of security challenges, because those with power shield “war criminals & their terrorist partners,” Washington must act, and act now……….
