LIFE AFTER DEATH: Bulletin #36 The Habit of Sinning According to the Holy Scriptures, Man inherited the sinful nature of Adam and Eve (that is, the tendency to sin; not their sin). And this is the war that goes on in each one of us since passed our age of innocence: our inclination to commit sin and the resistance that we muster to avoid it. Unfortunately, except for Jesus Christ (and naive children), everyone lost the fight—at least once. Looking back, in the Old Testament era, people don’t only have to repent in order to be forgiven every time they sin; they need to offer sacrifices (usually burnt animals like sheep and doves, which should be without defect). And these can be rejected by God if He is not contented with them. So, you can just imagine how costly and bothersome it is to fall! Now, when Jesus came in the flesh, He terminated this practice. Instead, He offered Himself as the last sacrifice for all the iniquity that will be committed by everyone (from the moment He died on the cross); and it does not matter how numerous and how grave these sins are. Hence, we only have to believe Jesus is the Son of God—the only authorized Messenger, Mediator, and flawless sacrificial Lamb sent by the Father (plus, of course, our acceptable contrition) and we will be rendered clean and saved from the fires of Hell. Isn’t it great? There is no more need to prepare anything to appease God. That is good news indeed—a truly legit reason why we have to celebrate His day of incarnation, which is Christmas! Yet, many would rather continue the habit of sinning—chiefly of yielding to the allure of the flesh—until they ultimately lose the desire to ask forgiveness and take advantage of this favor offered by our Lord and only Savior Jesus Christ. Why is this happening? Where can we get the strength that will finally break this perilous chain of wrongdoings in our life? If you want to know the details of how to destroy this bad habit, and other helpful tips that will raise your spirituality to the next level, then consult the new e-book “Life After Death (And Other Divine Truths)” by O.
