LIFE AFTER DEATH This is a very deep and confusing topic. I pray this may help you. Now, brace yourselves. I approach this topic from a King James only position. In other words, the King James Bible is the final authority for the English people. NOT any other language, manuscripts, history books, or commentaries. Now, if after reading this you dont agree, thats fine. You go your way and I will go mine in this topic. We just have to agree to disagree. But please give account to the fact that much scripture has been referenced. I highly recommend that you carefully read these passages in prayer and slowly. 1. SOUL a. Law of first mention-Gen. 2:7. The SOUL is created. See Job 12:10; 1 Cor. 15:42-48. b. Animals have souls, Gen. 12:5; Lev. 22:11; Num. 31:28-29; Rev. 16:3 (cross reference with Pro. 30:25-26. c. Gen. 2:21; 15:2; 28:16; 31:40; 1 Sam. 26:12; Is. 29:10; Daniel 8:18; 10:9; Acts 20:9. b. sleep with thy fathers - sleep as in death. Deut. 31:16; 1 Sam. 7:12; 1 Kings 1:21; Ps. 13:3; Daniel 12:1-2; Lk. 8:52; Acts 13:35-37; 1 Cor. 11:29-32; 15:6, 20, 50-51; Eph. 5:12-14; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; 5:10. c. Sleep us naturally at night. Now, from all these passages of study from the word of God in English- KJV, this is my conclusion from the literal interpretation of context: When i state, catching away- im referring to being caught up to heaven. 6. The word, paradise occurs 3 times in the Bible: a. Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. -Christ was not meaning heaven because Christ stated that he would spend three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. See Matt. 12:38-40; Lk. 23:43; Eph. 4:6-10; 1 Peter 3:18-21. -This place was abrahams bosom-Lk. 16. b. 2 Corinthians 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. - The context is vss. 1-4. Paul went to the third heaven. The scripture clearly tells us in this passage that its the third heaven, which is the kingdom of God. So The question is, how many heavens are there? According to the Bible there are 3. See Gen. 1:1, 8; 2:1; Pro. 3:19; Is. 65:17; 66:22; 2 Cor. 12:2-3; 2 Peter 3:5-13; Heb. 1:10-12. c. Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. This after after the Millennial reign. See Rev. 22. So that proves that there are not only 3 heavens, but also paradise had 3 locations. 7. The word, atonement is only found 70x in the Bible. Only 1 time in the New Testament: Romans 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. a. Again, the context is verses 1-5. Salvation through Christs death, burial, resurrection, and ascension, was now available to the Church (Israel). But not offered in the Old Testament. It was preached, but that does not mean it was offered at that time-Rom. 9:30-33; 11:6-16; Heb. 4:1-7. -Why wasnt it offered? Because they rejected it and stumbled at the cornerstone. The gentiles as grafted into Israel becoming one with them: See Matt. 15:21-28; Lk. 15:1-5; Jn. 10:14-28 (the whole chapter is good too); Acts 13:42; Rom. 2:25-29; 3:29-31; chapters 9 and 11; 1 Cor. 12:12-13; Eph. 4:1-4. 8. I just want to detour for a moment and explain something. The word, corner stone, is only found 13 times in scripture. In one passage (Zechariah 9:15) it refers to Gods judgment. However, the other 12 passages refer to Christ as the corner stone. Since the number 12 is the number of the tribes of Israel, that means Christ is the head of Israel, which we must be grafted in to be part of the Body of Christ. -See my post, Who is Gods Bride to be?. a. So with that in mind, Israel rejected the Corner Stone and crucified Him. So thats why it wasnt available in the O.T. See Rom. 9:30-33. -With this passage containing the words, stumblingstone, rock of offence, cross reference the following passages: -Corner stone. See Deut. 32:4, 18, 30-31; 2 Kings 17:14; Job 38:6; Ps. 118:21-23; 144:12 (cross reference with Gen. 28:11, 18); Is. 28:16-17; Jer. 51:26; Matt. 21:42-44 (cross reference with Matt. 26:1-2; Ps. 118:21-23); Mk. 12:10-11; Lk. 20:17-18; Acts 4:10-12; Eph. 2:19-22; 1 Peter 2:5-10. b. stumblingstone. See Is. 8:13-15; Rom. 11; 1 Cor. 1:21-24; 1 Peter 2:8; Rev. 2:14. 9. Now, let us resume our study. a. Luke 16 clearly reveals the reality in Scripture that Abrahams Bosom did exist. When Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead, he took the Old Testament saints to heaven. That was part of the first fruits of his resurrection. See 1 Cor. 15:21-23. b. But in the O.T nobody went to heaven (3rd heaven). John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 10. Was Jesus lying? Was he mistaken? Did he forget Enoch and Elijah? So what happened to enoch and elijah anyway? They didnt go to heaven because the gospel of Christ was not yet fulfilled, in our time. a. Enoch. Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Hebrews 11:5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. -Just because the vs. states that he was translated, that does not mean he went to heaven. b. What about Elijah? The Bible clearly states that he was carrying a chariot to heaven-2 Kings 2:1, 11. Right? But which heaven did he ascend to? Tricky, tricky. -3 things to consider that prove that Elijah did not go to heaven: -The key word is, heaven. This word does not always mean the kingdom of God. There are times that it means the sky. See 2 Sam. 18:9-10 (cross reference with Matt. 27:5) for example. -King Jehoram received a letter from Elijah which was after the reign of Jehoshaphat and Ahab-2Kings 8:16/2 Chron. 21:12. Thats odd. -Nowhere does the Bible state when, where, or how Elijah died. I believe at that moment in the chariot, he was transferred to the sky to somewhere else. Same as Phillip. See Acts 8:39-40. c. There is a difference between heaven and earth. See Gen. 1:1, 15, 17, 20; 2:4; Job 35:11; Pro. 25:3; Matt. 5:18. Now, the conclusion is from the KJV, which I believe. So, to out it basically and simply: In the Old Testament all Saints went to Abrahams bosom. No soul sleep, as in their soul was stuck in the ground. That is not in the Bible- KJV. Somebodys soul directly goes to Abrahams bosom or hell in the O.T. After Christ ascended, he took the Old Testament saints- Ephesians 4. We have now access to come before the throne of God. When we die on this earth our soul shall be translated to God. As Enoch, which is a picture of the individual Saints being translated to Gods kingdom directly. And those who die without Christ will end up in Hell- a temporary place of torment, and will face the White Throne judgement at the second resurrection. All the dead shall appear before Him to be judged. There are 4 instances in the Bible where someone is caught up to heaven (the 3rd heaven): 1. Christ the first fruits with the Old Testament saints, being transferred from Abrahams bosom to the kingdom of God-1 Cor. 15. 2. The Church- the Bride of Christ, after the Great Tribulation-Matt. 24; Mk. 13; Rev. 6:12-17. 3. The two witnesses- Rev. 11:11-12. 4. The second resurrection of all the dead to the final judgment at the Great White Throne-Rev. 20. May this help enlighten somebody to edification.
