LIFE IN THE SPIRIT VERSUS LIFE IN THE FLESH-I Main Text: Galatians 5:16-25 * Man is a spirit, has a soul and lives in a body. When a person is born again, his spirit is made alive by the Holy Spirit. * Before conversion, the spirit is dead (Eph. 2:1-2) and the person is controlled by the soul/flesh/sinful nature. * After conversion, there is a conflict with respect to who controls the body; the soul or the spirit. (Gal. 5:16-18). * The Christian who allows the soul to control him/her is described as Wordly (1Cor. 3:1). * The Christian who lives by the control of the Spirit is called Spiritual (1Cor. 2:5). * The wordly person who continues in that state would die-spiritually (Romans 8:13). * The Christian must make every effort to live by the Spirit (2Peter 1:5-8).
