LIGHT 4 LIFE MSG. TOPIC: “PREPARE TO MEET THE LORD” INTRODUCTION In my school days, General House Inspection was a serious event. The last house was made to scrub the dining hall. And there was also a trophy at stake for the overall best house at the end of the term. Therefore, each house prepared feverishly to make it at the top and avoid the punishment of scrubbing the dining hall. The Creator of heaven and earth will soon come to judge the world; how prepared are you to meet Him. In the Old Testament and in the history of the people of Israel, whenever God intended to visit His people, He called them to prepare by way of sanctification [E.g. Exo. 19:10 - 12]. The latter chapters of Isaiah, (Chap. 63 – 66, where our first reading was taken from) covers several apocalyptic themes such as the Day of Judgment and Salvation; the New Heavens and New Earth; and Judgment and Hope. This means the coming of the Lord has been expected since the times of old. Around A.D. 55 when Paul wrote his first epistle to the Church in Corinth, he testified that they were eagerly waiting for the Revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ [1 Cor. 1: 7]. In Mark 13, where the gospel reading is taken from, Christ himself enumerates the signs of His coming. He said, See that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name, saying, I am he! and they will lead many astray. . . . But be on your guard. For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. . . “. All the signs of the second coming of the Lord have been clearly displayed and fulfilled. We are in injury time and very soon the trumpet will sound. How prepared are you to meet the Lord? Let us take the lesson from the fig tree [Mark 13:28] and get ready for He is right at the door. Apostle Peter says that, “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, . . . . Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness”. The preparation required of us is a higher level of godliness and holiness. On a number line scale of negative ten (10) through zero to positive ten (10); what is your level of godliness and holiness. As Paul said to the Corinthian Christians, I pray that God keep you strong to the end and present you blameless on the Day of the Lord. Amen Shalom Rev. Sir A. Ani
