LIGHT 4 LIFE Msg. LORD, STAY WITH US The term or the concept of the Lord staying with us is only used lightly to imply that we have the presence, protection and provision of the Lord because we are living for Him and in Him. Scriptures says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” [James 4:8] But the truth is that, God cannot fit into our lives; we rather have to submit ourselves to His will and plan. It is the lesser that stays with the greater and not the other way round. FROM THE STORY [Luke 24:13-35] Two disciples had strayed from Jerusalem, the place Jesus wanted them to wait for the promise. In His love and mercy, Jesus sought to bring them back. When they realised that the supposed stranger was the Master Jesus, they returned that very evening back to Jerusalem – ignoring their own advice that it was late to travel. LESSONS The truth is that, God cannot stay with us if we choose to travel along unapproved paths. He may reveal himself to us along the way to cause us to come back to Him. But if we don’t, we are on our own and open to the attacks of satan. There is that temptation to think that the Lord is with us just because we attend church, fast and pray, hold the Bible, have a cross hanging in our vehicles, or have some anointing oil or water from a ‘powerful’ servant of God. These things may hold the presence of God but if we do not stay with God by remaining in His status and covenant, His presence, protection and provision will elude us. So, we cannot live anyhow and expect the Lord to be on our side. [Take the case of the Israelite during the later days of Eli the priest. 1 Sam. 4] It is he/she who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, who shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. [Ps. 91] Therefore our song should be Yesu wo nkyen na metena daa PHB 551 and not Owura tene yen nkyen kakra. Shalom
