LILAC CITY GARDEN WINNERS ANNOUNCED The winners of this years Lilac City Garden Competition will be presented with their prizes in Belmore Park this Saturday starting at 1:30pm. Geoff and Dot Baxter won the front garden category with Doug Rawlinson also winning a judges special award. Mavis Thorn took out the best seniors and back garden, Kevin McDougall the best small garden and Audrey Tabner the number one large garden. Publicity Officer Robyn Simpson says a number of the gardens will be open to the public. One of those gardens will include Riversdale which has been maintained by volunteers now for a number of years. Their garden came first in the commercial category - they also received a second place in the seniors section. Property Manager Ros Loftus says the award is a real feather in their cap.
