LINCOLN CITY V ALFRETON TOWN (FA Trophy) preview... FOLLOWING Wednesday evening’s 3-2 Vanarama Conference home win over Eastleigh, Alfreton Town head to Lincoln City for the second time this season on Saturday. This time it is to contest an FA Trophy first round tie and manager Nicky Law will be expecting a far better outcome than the recent 5-1 defeat at Sincil Bank in an FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay. On that occasion, the Reds had to play midfield player Anthony Howell in goal following injuries to two goalkeepers who were then on loan at the club. This time round, Alfreton go into the game far better prepared and in far better mood following the Eastleigh success and a 1-0 league victory in their latest away trip at Nuneaton Town last Saturday which gave their hopes of staying up a huge shot in the arm. Another tough test lies in wait however, as Lincoln also beat Nuneaton in the league on Tuesday evening, finishing comfortable 3-1 victors to record a third successive victory. That result means the Imps have now only lost twice in their last twelve outings in all competitions and have won all of their last three games, all for points, and all on home soil. Alfreton will also be looking to progress past the first round of the competition for the first time in three years having gone out of the Trophy at the first hurdle in the last two seasons.
