LION (DEACON) OSADEBAMWEN M. OKORO The Man: Our Dream is a collective one for all the good people of Oredo East Constituency. It is not a personal dream. However, like in every pursuit of a realizable goal, there must be a messenger, a standard-bearer, a mouthpiece, a mandate bearer, a representative or the proverbial errand boy. Lion (Deacon) Osadebamwen M. Okoro, your son that you know so well, has offered himself for service; to represent you and carry your messages, your wishes, your views and aspirations to the appropriate quarters and offices on the corridors of government power; he would, in turn, bring responses, feedbacks and patronages of government, back to you in the constituency. Osadebamwen Monday Okoro, who is today married with children, possesses a Bachelor of Science & Masters degree in Business Administration. Today, apart from being the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mosano Links International Limited (Mosano Tractors), which is into assembly, sales and servicing of tractors and farm implements, he is also the Edo State Promoter, Civil Awareness & Economic Empowerment Initiative, CAEI. A member of several professional bodies and associations, Lion (Deacon) Osadebamwen M. Okoro, PMJF, NLCF, is a Past 100% President, Benin Royal Lions Club; a past Zone 5A Chairman, International Association of Lions Clubs, District 404A, Nigeria; a past Region Chairman, Region 5 International Association of Lions Clubs, District 404A, Nigeria. Today, he is a District Member International Committee on Global Membership Team, GMT, of the International Association of Lions Clubs. THE RESPONSIBILITY: The primary responsibility of a member of the House of Assembly is, essentially, to make laws and resolutions for the good governance of the state, in general, and for the greater well-being of the people of his constituency, in particular. However, over the years, because of the conscious demands of the people in the constituencies and their desires and expectations for the legislator to affect the lives of the people in more physical and visible ways, constitutional provisions have equally been made for the legislator to directly impact and intervene in some critical areas of the peoples lives through timely awards and executions of constituency projects. Having thoroughly understood these vital responsibilities, it is, therefore, our firm resolve, to remain poised and vigilant to ensure that the good people of Oredo East Constituency are not short-changed in any disguise. We assure that together, we will ensure that what is ours, by right and privilege, will get to us signed, sealed and delivered. The responsibility and effectiveness of the legislator, in terms of delivering of the dividends of democracy to his constituents, equally lies on his diplomatic lobbying of the powers that be, in the arena of government at, not only the state and local government levels, but also at the level of the federal government, to secure favourable attention, projects, employments, empowerments and benefiting from the policies and programmes available at these levels of government for the people of his constituency. We assure you all, the good people of Oredo East Constituency, that if given the mandate to represent you, we will explore all avenues to ensure that these benefits are delivered at your doorsteps. We shall go beyond arm-chair legislating into the active realm of advocacy on behalf of the people. We shall solicit assistance for our people from not only the public sector, but also from the private sector participants, international donor organizations, local and international philanthropic organizations and utilize all of these for the benefit of our people. The success of a legislator equally lies on his connections to sources of assistance. We are ready and willing to use our personal socio-economic connections and the experiences we have garnered over the years for the overall benefit of our people. THE PEOPLE: The Oredo East Constituency comprises of Wards I, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 12. We give kudos to our leaders who have held sway in the management of this political segment of the state. We thank our leaders, brothers and sisters, who have, during their tenures of office, as representatives of the various wards and constituency, played their parts in ensuring the development of the political segment. We, therefore, have a duty and responsibility to keep harping on ways of further moving the constituency forward in terms of infrastructures, projects, youth/women empowerment and the development of our human capital. Our people need good roads, stable electricity supply, potable water supply, health centres, quality education, assistance to students in the form of bursary awards, employment of youths, assistance in developing the skills of our youths and an atmosphere of security. These are the dreams we shall pursue collectively as a people, so that together Oredo East Constituency will be a reference point in our time. We shall have a viable Constituency Office, where we shall continually meet to brainstorm on how best to achieve our collective aspirations. We shall always rely on your support, advice and prayers. We would not pretend to have all the answers to our problems and challenges, but we shall spearhead the determined resolve to tackle them as a people. We shall be transparent, accountable and trustworthy. The bedrock of good representation is built on these principles and qualities. For us, as aspirant to the seat of legislator representing Oredo East Constituency, we know we are capable, ready and willing to provide satisfactory service. For us, in this business of representation, it is, truly, a matter of trust.
