LIST OF RECALLED TOYS FOR LEAD POISONING HAZARDS- CHILDRENS TOY RECALLS FROM CHINA usrecallnews/2007/10/list-of-recalled-toys-for-lead-poisoning-hazards-childrens-toy-recalls-from-china.html Just to give you an idea of how many children’s toys have been recalled due to lead poisoning hazards and/or violations of lead safety standards, we have compiled a list based on all of the recalls announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) so far this year. Note: It may not be 100% complete at any given time since new recalls are coming out every day (sometimes it seems like every hour). Toys are recalled for a variety of reasons, often for design flaws that pose strangulation hazards, loose parts that pose choking hazards, poorly written instructions (as was the case in a recent Crib Recall), and more than a few involving toys with small magnets recalled for the risk of being swallowed and sticking together inside a child’s intestines. Therefore, although the list below only includes those children’s toy recalls involving lead, parents are advised to read ALL recalls announced by the CPSC, and to subscribe to our Consumer Product Recall Feed or Newsletter. We will endeavor to keep you up to date on the toys that should be avoided this Christmas season and beyond. Be aware when you give gifts so you don’t end up doing more harm than good this holiday season. Children’s Memory Testing Cards About 5,300 memory testing cards for children have been recalled for lead paint standard violations. Girl’s Bracelets by Mission City Press About 11,000 girl’s bracelet sets are being recalled for lead paint safety violations. The jewelry was manufactued by Mission City Press and sold at toy store, book stores and gift shops nation wide in 2006 and 2007 for about $15 per set. Children’s Sketchbooks About 80,000 children’s Sketchbooks with Colored Spirals have been recalled due to excessive levels of lead contained in the metal spiral bindings. These sketchbooks were distributed by eeBoo Corp. of New York, NY. and sold at specialty stores and gift shops across the country for the last three years for about $6. They were made in China and distributed at various home improvement stores nation-wide by Downeast Concepts, Inc., of Yarmouth, MA Click here for more info and pictures. Classroom Reading and Math Aids About 185,000 clasroom reading and math aids from RR Donnelley of Chicago, IL are being recalled. These child early-learning tools were sold by SRA, Glencoe and Wright Group, and contain excessive levels of lead, violating federal standards for lead in paint. Toy Wooden Block and Train Sets from Christmas Tree Shops About 15,000 Big Wooden Blocks and Jumbo Wooden Train Sets are being recalled by First Learning Company, Ltd. of Hong Kong. ESI-R Screening Materials from Pearson Learning Group About 18,000 packages of ESI-R Screening Materials from Pearson Learning Group and Pearson Early Learning of Upper Saddle River, NJ are being recalled due to excessive lead level in the suface paint of some contents. Cranium Cadoo Board Games About 38,000 Cadoo board games from Cranium Inc. of Seattle, WA have been recalled due to lead paint safety violations. The Dice is a normal six-sided die and has higher-than-allowed levels of lead paint on them, which could be toxic to children, especially if put into their mouths. More information about the recalled Cranium games.. Discount School Supply Play Mats About 60 Tic Tac Turtle Toss Mats are being recalled for lead paint standard violations. Toy Wrestler Figures About 5,400 toy wrestling figures a little under six inches high have been recalled due to violation of the lead paint standard. Nemo-Style Fish Change Banks About 1,300 Fish Coin Banks in the form of an orange and white clownfish are being recalled by TJ Promotions of South El Monte, CA due to lead paint violations. BabyTown Pacifiers Shims Bargain Inc. of Los Angeles, CA is recalling about 45,000 BabyTown Pacifiers because they fail to meet federal safety standards for pacifiers. This has nothing to do with lead paint. They are being recalled because the shield on the pacifier is too small and could enter the mouth of an infant or toddler. Furthermore, the ventilation holes are too small to allow for the insertion of a tool in case the pacifier does become stuck in a child’s mouth. More about this recall. Red Wagons About 15,000 red metal toy wagons from Tricam Industries of Eden Prairie, MN have been recalled because the paint on the wagon contains excessive levels of lead. Soldier Bear Brand Toys Army & Air Force Exchange Service of Dallas, TX is recalling about 11,400 Soldier Bear toys due to violation of lead paint safety standards. Not all of these toys are “bears”. Mexican Candy Syrup Recall Villa-Mex Imports of San Antonio, TX is recalling Barrilito candy, A maple-colored syrup sold in barrel-shaped glass jars with white plastic lids. The candy contains levels of lead in excess of federal safety standards. Since it is consumed orally by at-risk age groups, this recall is especially important. Children’s Sunglasses by FGX International About 260,000 pair of sunglasses for children are being recalled by the CPSC and FGX International due to a violation of lead paint standards. First Years 3-in-1 Flush and Sounds Potty Seats About 160,000 potty training seats from RC2 Corp., of Oak Brook, Il have been recalled due to higher than acceptable levels of lead paint. They toilet seat has either a yellow chair with a green removable seat and a purple lift out-pot or a blue chair with a white removable seat and green lift out-pot. Orange and Yellow Diego Splashing Boats Recalled Fisher Prices has recalled 38,000 more toys due to surface paint levels in excess of Federal standards. Shrek and Spiderman Flashing Rings About 110,000 units of children’s jewelry are being recalled due to excessive lead levels.
