Listen to NATIONAL IMMIGRANT YOUTH ALLIANCE: BENITO, ALMA, ETC., will be in studio tonight to discuss the Dreamer Movement and the most recent actions along the border, any updates, and what is on the horizon. We will also chat about the vigil tomorrow and the recent killings, beatings, and other violence along the border to catch their views on the broader issues of which they have experienced firsthand in some cases in their years log struggle. We will also ask for a brief summary of the recent week-long event at the Otay border where many mothers and their children, along with their fathers crossed the border into the custody of ICE, and detained. They are petitioning for citizenship via Asylum because of their inability to adjust to their communities in México after being deported, and because of the violence they’ve experienced themselves being potential victims of beatings, rapes, kidnaps, and homicide. ISABEL RODRIGUEZ from Los Angeles, has been an immigrant rights and legal rights activist and an array of topics that will extend beyond the immigrant rights struggle, such as the war on women, the status of Chicano and Chicana politics in the current era, their foresight as veteran activists on the many murders, and beatings in the barrios that have plagued our barrios from a mother’s perspective, and of course a wrap up on the women’s struggle that we highlighted all month. Hopefully, there will be time to delve into the violence that has plagued her mother country, México, she has prepared a indepth analysis for this inquiry and we are sure she will deliver, mainly she will tackle the issue of children deportees. SUSAN ALVA from Los Angeles, is a professor, activist and Chicana, has agreed to chat with us tonight and contribute with her experience as a mother and activist and what that means to her work and the people for which she advocates. She will also highlight her contribution to the immigrant rights struggle and what she believes is next for the Movement in terms of immigration reform, deferment, or the possibility of amnesty for all, and give her analysis as a local immigrant rights activist of what it meant for the 2006 megamobilizations, and how they have changed the way we view the immigrant community in the present era. Did the marches matter? We would certainly like to get her opinion on the war on women, the political forecast for any political changes where women are concerned, and what does all this mean for Chicanas who are typically struggling to make it in an ever increasing society that violence in México through her eyes.
