LISTEN UP! So Im going to potentially put a few noses of place - TopicsExpress

LISTEN UP! So Im going to potentially put a few noses of place here, but f**k it its something Im passionate about. Ive always had a slight issue with some businesses that affiliate themselves with charities. Dont get me wrong, I support the idea 100% and to people and businesses that work tirelessly for a cause for no other reason than to help make a difference, I am not referring to you. The issue I have is with businesses that just affiliate with any old charity in order to get exposure and get brownie points from the community. Now whatever their reason, as long as they are contributing, I guess its still good for the charity. BUT, I just dont like the idea and find it kinda cheesy sometimes. Thats why Mark Middo and I have always held back from taking on a charitable project, because we wanted to make sure it was something we were passionate about and knew we could make a real difference with. So about a month ago, a guy called Harli Ames approaches Middo and I and wants us to jump on board and help with this new project called 7til7. So we arrange a meeting and he gives us the pitch. Then BANG! 30 minutes later we are part of the team. So what is it? Ok well think of Dry July, but instead of no drinking its no Internet. NOW DONT FREAK OUT! KEEP READING! So from 7pm til 7am for 7 days in April next year, people all across Australia will Disconnect to Reconnect. That is to switch off their computer, phone, tablets, any device at all and reconnect with the real world. Reconnect with friends, family, colleagues, but most importantly themselves. Its all about raising money and awareness for active charities which support the growing number of young Australians suffering from anxiety and depression. A staggering 1 in 4 young Australians experience anxiety or depression in any given year. Youth suicide is on the rise and a lot of it is being caused by people having a completely distorted view of who they are because they are comparing themselves to the filtered world of Facebook and Instagram. Middo and I are so stoked to be a part of this team, which is clocking up more and more MASSIVE names every single day. The power of the people who are getting behind this project is staggering so watch this space, this thing is going to be absolutely HUGE. So what can you do to help us spread the word? You can do 2 things. 1. Like the page on Facebook. 2. Share the page with your friends. And If you dont do either of those things, Im going to private message you non stop until you do at least one of them, so you might as well just get it done NOW! The 7til7 juggernaught is here!
