LITTLE COUNTRY CHAPEL, Monday, November 3, 2014 Hi there and welcome to The Little Country Chapel. The lights are on, the organ is playing Heaven Came Down and Glory Filled My Soul, and your friends new and old are gathering today sharing smiles and ready to praise God in prayer, song and scripture. Come on in The Little Country Chapel, Were ready to begin with a prayer of praise! Our heavenly Father, we stand amazed and are humbled by your magnificent and glorious power. Power to cure the most serious illness and injuries. Power and grace to comfort a hurting family, and to clear the face of crying young child and the curing of childhood fears. Lord, you are always with us; giving us vision into your divine plan given on a need to know basis. You are a loving Father who cares about all his creation, even the smallest sparrow amongst us. Be with us in our walk with you. In Jesus name we pray. Amen Our opening hymn is Be Now My Vision Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art Thou my best thought by day or by night Waking or sleeping Thy presence my light Be thou my wisdom and Thou my true word I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord Thou my great Father, I, Thy true son Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one Riches I heed not nor mans empty praise Thou mine inheritance now and always Thou and thou only first in my heart High King of heaven my treasure Thou are High King of heaven my victory won May I reach heavens joys, O bright heavens Sun Heart of my own heart whatever befall Still be my vision O Ruler of all Turn in to your Bibles, 1 Thessalonians 4:11 (NIV) 11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody. WHAT DID IT SAY? There is more to Christian living than simply loving other Christians. We must be responsible in all areas of life. Some of the Thessalonians Christians had adopted a life of idleness, depending on others for handouts. Some Greeks looked down on manuel labor. So Paul told the Thessalonians to work hard and live a quiet life. You cant be effective in sharing your faith with others if they dont respect you. Whatever you do, do it faithfully and be a positive force in society. Sermonette: Through my years as Scout Master of Troop 56, Boy Scouts of America, I tried to instill in the boys, a since of responsibility of fulfilling their obligation to others and to our Lord. In my time, holding an Eagle Scout rank put a candidate for employment onto a managers short list of those viable candidates to be hired for a particular job. Several generations earlier, being a Christian, had the same privileges. Employers and straw bosses knew that the best workers were Christian. They would work a full day for a days wages; usually putting in a little extra effort for the love of God, Country and their families. Are you a Christian? If so, are you putting 110 percent into your job? If not, you had better take the matter to prayer and seek his guidance on how and where you need to be, in order to be a valued worker for your employer and possess a good witness as a Christian for the Master who loves and cares for your well being. Turn in your hymnal for our closing song, Work For The Night Is Coming. Work, for the night is coming Work thro the morning hours Work while the dew is sparkling Work mid springing flowers Work when the day grows brighter Work in the glowing sun Work, for the night is coming When mans work is done Work, for the night is coming Work thro the sunny noon Fill brightest hours with labor Rest comes sure and soon Give every flying minute Something to keep in store Work, for the night is coming When man works no more Work, for the night is coming Under the sunset skies While their bright tints are glowing Work, for daylight flies Work till the last beam fadeth Fadeth to shine no more Work, while the night is darkening When mans work is over Lord, the great Architect of the Universe, we now part to go our own separate ways. Make us sensible to do our assigned work well and for thy glory. May we learn to use our time and skills wisely. A jam-packet calendar does not necessarily mean that man has arrived to his full potential. Let us realize that we are too busy, leading to burnout, depression and even divorce. That the quality needed for us to preserve work to feed our families depends on how well focused we are on the job to be done, and to thee O Lord. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
