LITTLE LESS HOPELESS, LITTLE MORE HOPEFUL So, now president - TopicsExpress

LITTLE LESS HOPELESS, LITTLE MORE HOPEFUL So, now president Jonathon set up committee to come up with the modalities for a national conference. What is our hope? What is our misgiving? And which one is weghtier on our mind? Our hope as Nigerians is very clear and common, but our misgivings is very conditional, for the decision of the committe forshadows the success or otherwise of the national conference. Perhaps such national conference will be one of the most celebrated formal events in the country, given the situation in the country; pervasive insecurity, large scale oil theft, economic malaise, union strike and othe terrible plight plaguing the nation. It is therefore hoped that the national conference will chart a new path of development for the country. In retrospect, lots of committees have been established to deal with a particular national issue. Unfortunately, they achieved little or naught. It is hoped that this committee will do an honest job. Few could deny the fact that our national assembly in terms of power and representation is something akin to national conference. It is hoped that the national conference is meant to do something which the house fail to do. There are some people from a particular enclave who have the mind-set that they embody the lifeline of this soil and have been informally pushing for a sovereign national conference with a view to be curved out! It is hoped that this call by the president does not mean pandering to the sesession-minded people. In the recent years our interfaith relation has been too way tense, regional animosity deepens. It is hoped that the national conference will NOT be a touch-and-go occasion, tense with so much excitement and agitation. It is hoped that it will be a watershed in the history of our interfaith relation.
