LITTLE THINGS, BIG RESULTS 24 There are four things which are little on the earth, But they are exceedingly wise: 25 The ants are a people not strong, Yet they prepare their food in the summer; 26 The rock badgers[b] are a feeble folk, Yet they make their homes in the crags; 27 The locusts have no king, Yet they all advance in ranks; 28 The spider[c] skillfully grasps with its hands, And it is in kings’ palaces. Proverbs 30 Agur observed how some small things produced notable results in an instinctive manner. There are amazing things in creation, things we continue to discover. We should always be mindful of the wisdom of the Creator when we observe these things. There are some things that shouldn’t remain small, things that require deliberate effort to increase. Faith is the first thing that I think of when I consider things like that. Hope and love are two that naturally follow. The three are in 1 Corinthians 13 and seen in action in 1 Thessalonians 1:3- “…remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father.…” Similar words are used in the next letter Paul wrote to the Thessalonians (2 Thessalonians 1:3-4), when he noted how these attributes were continuing and growing. In 2nd Peter, the fisherman, near the end of his life, urged his readers to go forward in maturity, increasing, adding and multiplying the effects of the Gospel in their lives. He said that there was confidence that they could have because what they believed was true.(all of 2 Peter 1, verses 5-8 shown here- But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.) Whatever small thing in your life you recognize as a gift from the Creator, allow the Savior to develop it in the work of His Kingdom.
