LIVE FREE OR DIE Things aren’t that drastic for a Northern California county, but there’s increasing pressure to fight back against over regulation and possibly unconstitutional regulation. The Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 for a declaration of secession from the state of California. The county is urging other rural counties in Northern California and Southern Oregon to join them in creating a new state called: The State of Jefferson. From time to time we see where Texas wants to withdraw from the entire nation, and now we have individual counties considering withdrawing from their states. This isn’t just in California; secession is on the ballot in at least three Colorado counties. The idea to create the State of Jefferson goes back decades; it gained momentum in 1941 when the mayor of a southern Oregon town urged counties in the region to form a new state; the issue at that time was to raise attention to how bad the roads were in the area --- because many in that area believed their needs and concerns were being ignored by more populated sections of California. That proposal for the State of Jefferson was shelved after the attack on Pearl Harbor, but obviously, the spirit of that idea still lives in Northern California. There’s also been a proposal for secession in Southern California as Riverside County urged more than a dozen other counties to break off and create the State of South California. All of this is rhetoric, and some lame legislation at lower levels of government, but the “core” issue is a growing concern for Americans. To quote one of those favoring the State of Jefferson, “Many proposed laws (in California) are unconstitutional and deny us our God-given rights. We need our own state so we can make laws fit our way of life.” How many of you … regardless of where you live … are shouting, Amen! +++ TWITTER: Larryconnersusa EMAIL: [email protected]
