LIVE WITH HUMILITY Humility is surprisingly empowering. Sincerely putting others first is an excellent way to get yourself ahead. When you decline to grab the credit for the good things you do, others will be much more willing to work with you. When youre not afraid to admit you dont know it all, others will be happy to help you learn. Boasting will never earn you any positive impressions. It mainly makes you look foolish and insecure. Choose instead to regularly look at life from other peoples’ perspectives. Do what is best not for you alone, but what is best for everyone involved. It is nearly impossible to achieve real success by being centered only on yourself. The best thing you can do for you is to consider what’s best for everyone else. Always remember that true greatness does not have to be announced. Live with humility, with compassion and positive purpose, and live with that true greatness. Honest Heart An honest heart is an open heart. If we are dishonest in any way with ourselves or with others, it means we are in hiding. There is a wall, a barrier behind which we conceal something of ourselves. Subtle tension will be our companion, and while most of us learn to live with it, it drains our energy and tightens our muscles. On the other hand dont be too honest with others – feel their pulse – sometimes others are not ready to hear what’s in your heart. But know that when you are honest you will experience a level of inner relaxation that you had forgotten was even possible. Psalm 91:1 91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow, Say this: “God, youre my refuge. I trust in you and Im safe!” That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you— under them youre perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon. Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you. Youll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses. Yes, because God’s your refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil cant get close to you, harm cant get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, theyll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling. Youll walk unharmed among lions and snakes, and kick young lions and serpents from the path. Thoughts on Todays Verse... How good it is to be as close to God as his shadow and to share in the comfort of his sheltering presence. He is not far if our hearts choose to draw near him. Lets choose to draw near! Nehemiah 1:9 9 But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there. “Weve treated you like dirt: We havent done what you told us, havent followed your commands, and havent respected the decisions you gave to Moses your servant. All the same, remember the warning you posted to your servant Moses: ‘If you betray me, Ill scatter you to the four winds, but if you come back to me and do what I tell you, Ill gather up all these scattered peoples from wherever they ended up and put them back in the place I chose to mark with my Name.’ This was a great promise to the exiles of Israel under Persian rule and this is a great promise to us today. We may feel that we are alone in our walk with God, or we may carry so much shame from our actions that we have isolated ourselves from others of faith. God continues to call us from our exile to send us to a people group of His choosing. The greatest adventures of our lives are waiting for us in community. Ephesians 4:29 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word a gift. Love, Lizzy
