LIVERY: Hi all, I know we have evolved the joint article on livery coats, but theres something thats been nagging me of late and I cant help but feel we need to append. Firstly, this is NOT a pop at any particular group or umbrella group. Honestly. If you take offence then none is intended, but I suggest you play the ball and not the man (ad hominum). So, as to what I think needs discussing. The research I have undertaken leads me to believe that there is a significant difference between a LIVERY and a COAT OF ARMS. A coat of arms belongs to an individual, whose forces may wear his livery - but the two are different. They may be related, so the colour stems from the CoA, or they may adopt a more senior livery from the family. Of late, there seems to be a number of groups out there where the entire unit is decked out in tabards of the coat of arms. Quartered, emblazoned with charges, you name it. My research would indicate this is incorrect. Now, only God is perfect so Im willing to put my hand up and state I could of course be wrong. Indeed, in the absence of a TARDIS were not going to know for sure. But Id like to know what evidence people are using for this, or if people agree. Ultimately, a note in the article on livery would be the output. Thoughts?
