LIVEWIRE Farm land shrinking: Don’t say eatables are costly! Jammu and Kashmir is great State. Here nobody will question you where you are building a house. If it pleases you to construct a big house on agriculture land who will stop you. It is full democracy here. No duties, only rights. You have all rights to construct house anywhere. If somebody raises an objection, bribe him and all objections will vanish in thin air. This is called good governance. Do not unnecessarily harass anybody, live and let live. What a great idea of democracy and freedom! Then, why does a common man complain over high price of vegetables, fruits and grains. Look at Jammu, the pace at which illegal construction over paddy and agriculture land is going on unabated will leave no space for farming. The government is sleeping over this issue. Perhaps they have more important issues at hand. But the reality is for anybody to see. Huge swaths of fertile land have been changed into colonies. With no policy to pursue, the government is rudderless and has no idea of big challenge that the illegal construction on farm land will pose in future. The ministers and officers are not concerned with this menace. What a great example of good, responsive and proactive governance!!
