LIVING FOR GOD DAILY DEVOTIONAL MONDAY NOVEMBER 10 2014 THEME: FOLLOWING THE WORLDS CUSTOMS? REFERENCE TEXT: Samaria fell because the Israelites sinned against the Lord their God who had rescued them from the king of Egypt and led them out of Egypt. They worshipped other gods, followed the customs of the people whom the Lord had driven out as his people advanced, and adopted customs introduced by the kings of Israel- 2Kings 17:7 (GNB) REFERENCE HYMN: Laipe, Baba ki yo mo Omo Tab Omo mo Baba re Kaiye sile sa to Kristi O duro loke Mimo Re Rukerudo parun nla mbo Ya ronupiwada Shortly, the father would know not his child Nor the child would his father Renounce the world now run to Christ Its pleasant in His holy place Great tumult, destruction cometh, Come now to repentance- CCC Hymn 276 stanza 3 In our previous study, we have been trying to orient ourselves on the existence of a peculiar plan and purpose for each individual and also for a group of people (which may be a nation, church or community). The downfall of some individuals and nations in particular has been as a result of a deviation from their peculiar calling and trying to be like others. They did not stop there but followed the custom of the people whom the Lord had driven out. They did and indulged themselves with what those people that attracted God’s anger did. What a pity? God in His infinite grace requires this from us. Do not be enticed with the tradition, fashion, and lust in this present world. May God keep you from ungodly influences in the Name of Jesus. Amen. Prayer point: Oh Lord, deliver me from following worldly customs in Jesus Name. Amen.
