LIVING IN LIGHT OF ETERNITY. Our time on earth is hardly - TopicsExpress

LIVING IN LIGHT OF ETERNITY. Our time on earth is hardly comparable to ETERNITY. And yet what is decided here on earth has eternal ramifications. 1) What we decide to do with Christ in the here and now determines whether we will live forever with Christ in glory or whether we will experience eternal separation from Christ in a place called the lake of fire. Eternity is in the balance depending on what we do with Christ (cf. 1 Jn. 5:12). 2) We are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. However, there are degrees of eternal reward for serving Christ. We are not saved by serving, but we are rewarded accordingly. This little lifetime has ETERNAL ramifications in terms of the believers reward. As one football coach told his team entering into the championship game: One hour of work - a lifetime of glory. For us as Christians it is one hour of work - an eternity of glory. As we come to the close of 2014 it is good to take inventory. Am I a Christian? (cf. 2 Cor. 13:5). Am I being a good steward of this brief life I have been given? (cf. 1 Pet. 4:10). Am I living in such a way that I will be pleased on judgment day? But more importantly, am I living in such a way that Christ will be pleased when He evaluates me on judgment day? Seize the moment for Christ! Eternity is looms! Matthew 25:46 (NKJV) 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Mark 8:36 (NKJV) 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 1 Corinthians 3:13 (NKJV) 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 2 Corinthians 4:17–18 (NKJV) 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 5:9–10 (NKJV) 9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 John 8 (NKJV) 8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. Revelation 20:15 (NKJV) 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 22:12 (NKJV) 12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
