LOBELVILLE, Tenn. – TBI Officials said a person of interest has been taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting at the US National Guard Armory in Perry County. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said the person has not been arrested or charged in the case. Officials have not yet released the individuals identity. Officers from the Linden Police Department and Deputies from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting at the facility, located on Highway 13 North in Lobelville, around 4 p.m. Wednesday. Josh DeVine, the Public Information Officer for the TBI, said a neighbor reported hearing several gunshots fired from inside the building. Officials with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a Sergeant was killed in the shooting. The victim’s name has not been released. It was not immediately known as to how the suspect was able to gain entry into the facility. The TBI said they were investigating whether or not the shooting was random or a targeted attack. The victim was transported to an area hospital, where the person died as a result of injuries sustained during the shooting.
