LOCAL JB SPONSOR SPEAKS TO THE PRESS Published on 02/08/2013 16:00 I caught up with the team at the Old Ship Inn on Bethel Street who have now started to hold live music events on a more regular basis. The next band to come to the pub is The Headstock who play blues and rock music and they are performing on Saturday week, August 10 from 8.30pm. The pub is also in the process of organising a mini-music festival for the Bank Holiday weekend, at the end of August with a mixture of live performances on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Home-cooked food is still being served seven days a week, 12-2.30pm and the bargain meals at £2.99 are proving popular. Mark Feasey is in training for a half marathon on September 8 at Dunstable Downs, running head-to-head with one of his two brothers. Unfortunately Graham Feasey has pulled out, due to breaking a bone in his foot. Money is being raised for the Candlelighters Charity and the Menengitis Trust. Mark said: “I would personally like to thank customers of the Old Ship for their donations so far, and a special thanks to Jayson Bartlett, writer and director of ‘The Luckiest Man in the World’, a show coming to the Civic Theatre in September, as he has donated 10 per cent of the sales from the show over the four nights it is running - potentially £1000! This has given me the encouragement to keep training, even in the heat,” said Mark. l Tonight at the Barge the jam night is with Dean. On Friday evening Pop Criminals will take to the stage and on Saturday night Suicide Blonde will perform. l Landlord Steven ‘Zingy’ Ingle at the Junction, Rastrick has had the locals laughing with his new signage in the car park. Fed up with people who are not visiting the pub using his car park, Zingy has a new sign stating “The Junction car park is for patrons use only, but for non patrons a foot pump is available for hire at £50!” l To celebrate Yorkshire Day a day late instead of today, August 1,the Sun Inn at Lightcliffe will have a special menu available tomorrow, Friday, August 2, at £30 per couple. Yorkshire favourites will be on the menu. l On August 9 at Rastrick Bowling and Social Club, entertainment will come from tribute acts to Michael Buble and Neil Diamond, and disco. Tickets £10.
