LOCAL NEWS UPDATE... LOCAL NEWS UPDATE... LOCAL NEWS... Chilly Fest Scheduled For January 23rd & 24th Up In The Air....... MainStreet Port Huron is in a scramble to find a suitable location for Annual Chilly Fest scheduled for January 23rd and 24th. In previous years the Chilly Fest was held in a large tent located next to McMorran Main Arena and Auditorium on the north side of McMorran Blvd. According to MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) the Military Street Bridge, over the Black River in Downtown Port Huron, will be closing for a few months for extensive upgrades and maintenance. With the Military Street Bridge closing the original site for the Chili Fest is now Displaced from the traditional location on McMorran Boulevard due to the increased traffic expected for the detour that would reroute traffic west to Erie and the 7th Street Bridge. Kristi Hazard, Executive Director for MainStreet, stated late last week that, We cannot put the tent on McMorran Boulevard. At this time, Were looking at finding an alternate spot for the Fest, Hazard said. Hopefully, this event will continue next to McMorran.
