LOL - so this sports announcer Jim Rome made some bully like comments about kids playing in the band. HA! He called them DORKS. Jim didnt even play sports in college or on a professional level. Hes a commentator...an announcer...a media guy. He doesnt really know what it takes to play in either the band or on the team. SMH...my son played in the marching band in High School. The work required in band camps, marching drills, music skills, etc. was easily on par with the effort extended by the football team. Right now my son Michael Nieporte plays in the VCU Pep Band and helps bring the crowd to life in support of the home team. The energy the band brings is like the proverbial sixth-man on the court. VCU does not know many losses when they are on the home court (thanks VCU PEP BAND) Jim Rome just talks about sports. Him calling anyone a dork who actually works hours daily (either as athlete or band member) is simply ridiculous.
