LOL! Taking Munchkin for a walk up on the fire road. First, we ran into her pal Gromit (yes, named by original owner w/the last name of Wallace), about 80 lbs. of lab/lots of other things. Shes been doing figure 8s in front of his gate the past few days. Today he was out and off leash - and my little girl just ran literal circles around him, jumping, herding him, being Ms. Bossy Aussie. Took some video; will check and post if any good. Then, when she was tired (I thought - LOL!) from 15 minutes at a dead run with him, ran into a new dog, Yeshka, just a little larger than her. The two did the happy dance and we let them both off leash (still on the fire road), where she herded him in circles, brought him back when he ran a bit away, chased him into mutual exhaustion. For the first time since Ive known her, she was actually panting from exertion! Now shes crashed on the floor at home. A foreshadowing of Life After Dog Park. As the animal behaviorist who trained me three dogs ago said, when it comes to exercise, 15 minutes with another dog is worth 2 hours with a person. Got to experience that for the first time today. Yay!
