LONDON POLICE NOT HELPFULL :( Dear Mr Hussien I am sorry to learn that you have become a victim of burglary. I am writing to confirm your crime number, which is in the subject field of this email, and explain your crime’s current status. Thank you for reporting your crime to us. By doing so, you help police to: · Investigate your crime and potentially others linked to it · Build an accurate profile of crime in your area · Restore stolen property to rightful owners (if your crime involved theft of property) · Catch and convict criminals and prevent them from harming others · Record your details to help prevent you from being a victim of crime in the future · Send a message to criminals that crime will not be ignored or tolerated We have carried out an initial investigation. Following this, your crime has been reviewed to see whether there are opportunities for further investigation to identify a suspect. In particular police have already taken into consideration whether forensic evidence exists and can be recovered; whether there are witnesses who can be identified; or whether there is CCTV that covers the actual location of the crime and is feasible for us to view. As a result, it has been concluded that at this time unfortunately there is insufficient information to proceed, and that the specific investigation into your crime will now be closed. I understand that this may disappoint you, so I am writing to advise you that whilst your crime has been closed, it has not been forgotten. The Metropolitan Police Service cares about victims of crime in London and takes the following steps irrespective that the crime is currently closed: 1. Should we catch an offender at a later date for a similar crime to yours or a crime in the vicinity, we will investigate whether that offender is also responsible for your crime. Each year, we solve over 8,000 offences this way. We will re-open the investigation into your crime if further evidence such as this arises and we will inform you. 2. If your crime involved property that was stolen from you, your property is now logged and can be returned to you if recovered. The Metropolitan Police Service recovers approximately £15 million worth of stolen property each year. 3. Your crime has been passed to the local police Intelligence Unit who compare it to others to build a profile of crime in the area. This enables us to deploy our resources more effectively. 4. Your continuing welfare is important. You can arrange to meet your local Safer Neighbourhood Team if you would like further crime prevention advice, or would like to know more about local policing. There are dedicated Safer Neighbourhoods officers for every electoral ward in London. You can find your local Safer Neighbourhoods Team via our website met.police.uk or by calling 101 and asking for the contact details for your local team. 5. Further support is also available to you from Victim Support. Victim Support is a national charity that provides help free of charge to victims of crime that includes emotional support, practical help and other information about the criminal justice process. Many victims are contacted by Victim Support as part of the initial investigation, but should you feel that you would like help, you can contact them at any time on 0845 303 0900 or online at victimsupport.org.uk. The service is available even if you have already declined assistance. Once again I am sorry that you have become a victim of crime. If you have any queries about the decision to close the investigation into your crime or about the other steps covered in this letter, you can reach us through the contact details at the bottom of this email, quoting your crime number.
