LONELINESS CAN HURT YOU: I was admitted to a Norwegian hospital for an ailment the best of the European labs could not detect. For four days in isolation the chief of the hospital asked me what my disease could be. I said “I don’t know.” They had tested me for every ailment they could think of. Loneliness is worse than most diseases. I was a 21 year old student staying alone for the first time in a foreign country. No money but working in a sales job with no ability to speak Norwegian language. I could not eat well nor sleep well either because of anxiety. I feared the future. I did not speak enough Norwegian to make local friends. I was simply lonely. I was stressed but I did not know I was. My entire system was collapsing. The doctor prescribed a companion for me from my culture. They sent me a student who spoke English and we cooked ugali with canned fish. The student companion was all the medicine I needed. I was doing great. My sales started to grow. I earned all the money I needed to go to school during that first summer in Norway. The truth is there are many people sick of loneliness. They are all by themselves. Yes there are people around them but these people do not speak their language. I mean a language of understanding their needs. Somebody to understand what they are going through. Somebody to listen to them.It could be you ailing and you do not know what is eating you up. It could be fear of uncertainty of tomorrow. Fear that your relationship is shaky. Your lover playing on your fears. This is torture of some kind. This kind of loneliness can kill you. Fight back by getting somebody who can understand you in your life. Isolation is the worst punishment to a human being. Elijah became suicidal in loneliness. Do not be alone. If you think somebody is lonely reach out to them. Be assured because of my experience and my past: If I am lonely I am coming to you. If you do not want my company I am going to the next person til I get somebody who enjoys my company. It has worked well for me. It sure will work for you. Christ came to them guys. Some rejected him three times. Some betrayed him. He even went to hang with the two sisters and their brother. Being alone is a bad option. Do not be alone. If you are my friend and you are alone: I will seek you out. Do not be alone unless you are in jail. Loneliness kills. If you enjoy being alone: You are either gifted or a very sick person. Gifted to be alone is a very rare gifting. I know for sure I do not have that gift. Do not comfort yourself. Reach out to somebody today.
