LONG ENOUGH TO HEAR by Alfredo Salvatore Arcilesi It was a magical, hazy, lazy night. I rode the train alone, intermittently glancing at the other lone-lies, seeing myself. Theres a certain comfort, a certain coziness in that loneliness. A certain familiarity. I got off, walked the rest of the way, past many of the other lone-lies. I made it to the pub, the second floor. Not a soul save for a friend. One drink and shared meal later. I told myself Id stay for five more minutes, but five became ten, ten became fifteen. I couldnt make out much of the music playing overhead, but one spoke louder with its soft voice. The lyrics, the words tapped into whatever part of the brain governs emotions and sang from my mind. I left as soon as the song faded out. I go out, walked to the train, past many other lone-lies. Theres a certain comfort, a certain coziness in that loneliness. A certain familiarity. I rode the train alone, intermittently glancing at the other lone-lies, seeing myself. It was a magical, hazy, lazy night. https://youtube/watch?v=pB-5XG-DbAA
