***LONG POST ALERT!!!*** Ive now been away for a month so I thought id try and write something to try and sum up how its all been going. I will admit there were many things I underestimated to begin with. The cost of everything, how hard it would be to get a job and the amount of foreigners being the main three. For my lack of hindsight, the bank balance is not as healthy as it could be, I am struggling to find work (even though I have a sort of interview/meeting thing on Monday) and Im constantly surrounded by asians, indians and pakistanis. We started off at a great Backpackers Lodge but while Gary Wainwright and myself were going out, drinking, exploring and just generally loving life, everybody else seemed to have no money just staying in all the time, eating cereal 3 times a day and reading. We quickly came to the conclusion that we were doing it properly and they were just boring. While we were being faffed about with the fantastic flat we now live in, I sorted some alternative acommodation which came to be affectionately known as the box. Although the Website described it as a cabin, it was actually a 15ft by 10ft room with a bunk bed, a sink and the worldd worst and most pointless table. Add that to the fact that it was an empty holiday park run by indians and you had to pay to use the showers. I will admit it wasnt my finest hour when I picked it but we ended up spending 7 nights there as apposed to the 2 we had originally intended to. We eventually move into our flat and despite a few small issues like the vacuum cleaner having NO suction and the feeling of being able to completely unpack is one that cannot be rivalled. I get a facebook message off a complete randomer but he turns out to be a friennd of my dads and he actually doesnt live too far from where we are so that was nice. He said if there was anything I wasnt sure about just give him a buzz and hed help me out so that was spot on! Gary seems to be enjoying his job and although I have now developed a thick skin to his boring jibes like have you got a job yet?, it would be nice to get something sorted this week just to shut him up more than anything. Theres been a few little niggles here and there having to put up with each other but he goes out to work and the housework (or should I say flatwork) is all done by the time he gets in so he has nothing to whinge about. Im missing the people that matter to me and missing the general pleasantries and banter from the rest of you but Im not homesick. Its tough when youre on your own until gone 6pm 5 nights a week but ive been trying to keep myself busy which the job search, washing, cleaning, tidying up and just trying to keep my mind off home. Im not missing poker, pool or snooker but I am missing the football!!! Its just not the same watching 18 second clips of the goals on dailymotion. Lastly I hope everyone had a great Christmas, I hope 2015 is better than 2014 for everyone and hopefully my next post will involve the words, I have a job. Muchos Gracias x
