LOOKING AHEAD... Still no sure thing winter storms on the horizon for the Triad, but February looks to get off to a cold, potentially stormy start. The overall trend across North America over the next few weeks will favor cold air in the East and warm air in the West. With this, the storm track is likely to be active across the Eastern US as well. We are seeing this right now with frequent systems diving out of Canada, some of them ballooning into big Noreaster type storms in the Northeast US. This colder, stormier pattern does NOT mean that we will get a big storm in North Carolina. Right now, I dont see anything that screams storm for us in our near future. However, this DOES mean that well likely be dealing with lots of close call storms, some of which could result in wintry weather across the Piedmont. Hard to say anything else beyond that right now. Would I bet that we see some snow before the winter is over? Yes. We probably will. Do I know when it will come? No. Do I know how much it will be? No. In the meantime, please do not feel the need to ask me, When are we going to get some snow? on every post. Believe me, when I see a credible threat, Ill let you know about it. (Its great for my numbers!)
