LOOMING MATATU STRIKE Matatu operators plying Kapsowar-Iten road have threatened to stage a mother of all strikes on Tuesday thz week to protest the terrible state of the road joining the two towns.(Iten and Kapsowar) infuriated operators who had assembled at Kapsowar stage told thiz writer that, they will be paralyzing all transport activities in the said road so as to force the county government to act. we will all assemble here at kapsowar b4 we embark on a demo to the governors office at Iten, we want him to explain to us why his govenment has been so quite on the road issue whereas our 3million plus worth Matatus spoil due to bad roadsone of the drivers said The operators added that, they want the county government to return a Caterpillar that was bought by Marakwet county council to kapsowar so that it can be used to repair the roads. We need that caterpillar here and if they dont have money for fuel, we will take it upon ourselves to fuel it for we have suffered for a long time said one of the drivers another driver added The other day, Governor Tolgoss car broke a coil spring at bugar, i stopped and asked him to repair thz road especially the entrance to his gate which was in a bad shape and atleast when i went back after a day, some bricks had been used to fill da pot hole In the past, Matatu operators plying the route have only had roads repaired after them staging a strike to force the hand of the Government. late last year during President Uhuru Kenyattas visit to kapyego in Marakwet east, the deputy president WSR promised that the said road would be tarmacked but nothing has been done yet.
