LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth (Psalm 26:8). The Psalmist found refuge in the house of the Lord where God is honored. Oh how we need refuge from this sinful world! Join us today as we find refuge from the pull of the world and honour our Lord in word and deed! This morning’s message will focus on the fact that we can KNOW that we are saved. God doesn’t want us guessing about such an important matter. John takes this topic to task in 3 John. We will be looking at verses 10-13: HOW I KNOW Eternal Life. . . Living with God forever in heaven …it is real…it is possible. .. we can KNOW! John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 1. I Know Because of GOD’S WITNESS IN me – v. 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: . . A. The Indwelling Holy Spirit – 1 Corinthians 3:16 B. The Holy Spirit is God in me . . .witnessing of my salvation - Matthew 10:20 C. He is my ‘down-payment’ of eternal life that is to come – Ephesians 1:14 2. I Know Because of GOD’S WORK FOR me – vs. 11-12 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. A. –v 11 - God is the Giver of eternal life – Romans 6:23 B. –v. 11 – God gave His Son that I could live forever – Acts 4:12 C. –v. 12 - God gave simple instructions concerning salvation - John 3:36 3. I Know Because of GOD’S WORD TO me – v. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. A. –v. 13 - God’s Written Record (The Bible) - John 5:39 B. God promised it in the beginning and throughout the ages – Gen. 3:15, 21 C. God recorded it so that we COULD KNOW – John 6:67-69 CONCLUSION: HOW DO I KNOW? Simple as this. . . I have chosen to believe God. . .by faith! Repent of my sin. ..Trust in His Son. . . believe in His Word. .. The evening service will focus on NOAH’S WORKING FAITH (Hebrews 11:7): Faith = believing God and living like it 1. Noah’s Faith worked to hear what many refuse to hear 7By faith Noah, being warned of God . . . A. A Christian must work at hearing God! B. A Christian must be dedicated to the Lord and study His Word to hear God 2. Noah’s faith worked to see what others could not see . . . of things not seen as yet . . . A. Salvation gives us new ‘sight’ B. A Christian must work to see by faith 3. Noah’s faith worked to move him to action . . . moved with fear, . . . A Christian should always be working to moved forward with God ‘moved with fear’ = acted cautiously. . .moved with reverence. .with awe. . . 4. Noah’s faith worked to bring others to salvation . . .prepared an ark to the saving of his house; . . . A. Noah was concerned about his loved ones (his heart. passion. . .love) B. Noah even worked physically to bring his loved ones to salvation C. Noah was faithful until the end 5. Noah’s faith worked to be separate from the world . . . by the which he condemned the world, A. Noah condemned the world by His separation to God! 1. By his preaching 2. By his actions 3. By his God-given knowledge 4. By his salvation B. Do we condemn the world or endorse it? 6. Noah’s faith worked on his inheritance from God . . . and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. A. Work on our eternal inheritance over and above any earthly inheritance B.
