LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. - A group called Keep Access to Matilija Falls Open is filing suit in Ventura County Superior Court over the public’s access to a popular trail. The trail passes through a checkerboard of federal and private land over about a 9-mile round-trip hike to the falls in the Los Padres National Forest, plaintiffs said. At about the 2-mile mark, it passes through private property owned by the Bonsall family. In 2009, plaintiffs said Buzz Bonsall started taking steps to prohibit public access.
