LOSING MY FAITH IN THE RULE OF LAW IN KERALA Was watching with amazement,anger,distress and disgust todays story in the TV channels about the accused lodged in a high-security prison in the state undergoing trial in a political murder case having a rocking time under the indulgent eyes of the jail authorities. The prisoners who are essentially hard-core criminals and hoodlums enjoying the patronage of a major political party out of power ,are in possession of high-end smart phones and enjoy regular,unrestricted access to their Facebook accounts, posting fearlessly about their political loyalties and uploading regularly photos of their fun and frolicking inside the prison.They are suspected to have successfully threatened and intimidated more than fifty crucial witnesses in the case with their free access to mobile phones. The revelations are a sad commentary on the rot that has taken place in the jail administration in the state and lack of political will on the part of the state government to deal with crime and criminals in political cases.
