LOVE IN DISGUISE By Khaliah Purnell You ever sat and just thought about How many hearts are broken and left so cold? Or how many secrets some may have That are hidden or left untold? As I sit and reflect on the amount of Hurt and pain that I’ve endured and gone through, And I remember how during those times I never knew just how I’d get through. Let me ask you just how many times you have been in love Or loved someone so much that it allowed them to make you cry, Or ask you how you felt when the day came around That either of you had to say your goodbyes? I ask myself sometimes with this last one What I kept holding on and fighting for, What exactly is keeping me sticking around Allowing myself to be hurt by him anymore. See the love I feel for this man hurts when we fall out And every time it seems to hurt more than the last, But for some reason I always seem to take him back A little too damn fast. I wonder when I will let go forever And come from up under this disguise, Face and see my true value and worth And stop allowing myself to accept disrespect, hurt and lies. I know it is time to realize I will always love him But time to turn the page and close this door, So that I can cease any more pain that keep lurking around with this love And accept and realize that I am worth and deserve way more
