LOVE IS OF GOD AND DOES NOT FAIL. 1 Corinthians 13:4-10 v4. Love is patient and is kind; love doesnt envy. Love doesnt brag, is not proud, v5. doesnt behave itself inappropriately, doesnt seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; v6. doesnt rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; v7. bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. v8. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are various languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with. v9. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part; v10. but when that which is complete has come, then that which is partial will be done away with. Here in verses 4-7, we find what believers with love do not do: 1. They do not feel jealous. 2. They do not *boast. 3. They are not proud. 4. They do not behave badly 5. They do not look out for their own interests. 6. They do not easily become angry. 7. They do not keep a record of how people have hurt them. 8. They take no pleasure in evil things. 9. In v7 Paul ends his list by emphasising that love never changes. People with love do not talk about other people’s faults. They do not give in to insults and difficulties. Christians can trust God’s promise to give them ‘hope and a future’ (Jeremiah 29:11). Christians can live with courage in every circumstance. This is because of their trust in God’s love for themselves and for other people. Christ Jesus is the center of all this. Without believing in Him, you can not love. So if you dont love, you sin, and you need forgiveness. Amen.
